Hello All:
Excerpt from “The Road.”
Chapter Sixteen; “Who Writes This Stuff? Page 94:
“When we met for lunch it only took seconds to get through the expected pseudo-formalities exchanged between Mayor and citizen. I began my conversation with a comment about who she used to be, as a Town Council Member, so anxious to be fair and do the right thing, I asked her, “What happened to that Kay Dyson?” Her response was, “What do you want Lynn?” That comment set the tone for the remainder of our meeting and allowed me to rearrange my comments in that direction, i.e., cut to the chase and drop all the phony niceties! That’s precisely what I proceeded to do, beginning with the ‘questionnaire.’ I informed Mayor Dyson that I had consulted with our attorneys, about the questionnaire, and was advised that questions six through nine bordered on fraud, in that they were specifically designed to manipulate the outcome of the survey in the Town’s favor, and no matter how the residents answered the questions the Town would come out on top. I informed her that I had done the research on the last four questions and told her the results, adding that it would be a tough sell to the residents of Tumbling T Drive, as I had already sent letters out to all of them, explaining exactly what those questions meant.
Mayor Dyson did not resist the idea that these questions were inappropriate, and openly agreed that they should be removed from the questionnaire. I honestly became suspicious because she was too agreeable that the questions should be removed! I received a lot of information after-the-fact, and this would be no different. I was shocked to later learn, from Vice Mayor Nedrow, that these four questions were, in fact, questions that Mayor Dyson had personally added to the questionnaire. She didn’t have the integrity to take responsibility for adding these questions but would be instrumental in seeing to it that they were removed before they were sent to the property owners. It was probably the suggestion I made about the questions bordering on fraud. Or, perhaps she was finally beginning to realize that she wasn’t dealing with the run-of-the-mill local that was going to disappear with a little pressure, or back off if a few big, and presumably unknown, words were thrown around. Oh no, I wasn’t going anywhere, and I wasn’t giving up. I undoubtedly should have, because Dr. X, and his chorus line of puppets, would do the reprehensible to try and stop me!”

Hello All:
Wanted to post something from my book about the contradictions, conflicting “excuses,” and the tap-dancing over “The Road.”
It was always about the easements, and how the town would lose the easements north of the boundary line where the Colter Subdivision ended. The town council always insisted the issue preventing the closure of “The Road” was a legal one, thus, putting off closing the road again, after it had been closed for 20 or so years.
Here’s a few ‘telling’ examples of either dishonesty, BS, maleficence of office, abuse of power, or plain old assumptions:

…….”This is why they are checking all the legalities. She (Mayor Dyson) said she wanted to hear the opinions of all of the people on that street.
Springerville Town Council Meeting
1998
“The Mayor explained that with the continued closing of Tumbling T Drive the town will lose the easement. It will become in years to come as sewer lines are extended or for paving projects, etc. It will be impossible to get sewer or anything else into this area without the easement. In order to keep from losing this easement for future use, we have to find a way to open this back up again.”
You decide if the ‘easement’ was the real issue:

The Mayor's Response
Do you see anything in the Mayor’s response that eludes to easements? I couldn’t find it either. But, that’s the way it went for years, it was always about the easements. However, I attended a Town Council Meeting and provided the following information (June 16, 2004):

Not our problem!
They couldn’t keep their stories straight from one meeting to the next, and the ’story’ was always different, depending on who they happened to be talking to at the moment.
